A Slot Drain is a drainage channel with a narrow top entry for the water to pass down into the channel below.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SLOT DRAIN AND CHANNEL DRAIN
The difference between a slot drain and a channel drain is the width of the top grate that sits on top of the plastic channel and is visible after the tile or stone has been installed.
Slot Drains have a very narrow grate that is designed to sit a few millimetres below the finished floor level so that the water can pass over the stone or tile and down through the grate into the PVC channel below.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF SLOT DRAINS?
Slot drains can vary in dimensions and specifications, so you have a wide range of profiles available to suit your particular project.
One of the most common reasons people use a slot drain is for the slim minimal profile, often favoured by architects and designers looking to create a modern look to a project.

WHAT IS A SHOWER SLOT DRAIN?
The Aquabocci Blade Shower Kit is a minimal slot drain that will drain the water from your shower in the most elegant and sleek way possible.
The product can be installed along the back wall and you can create a walk in wet room by installing a second Blade Slot Drain across the shower entry to remove the need for a shower screen.
ARE SLOT DRAINS AVAILABLE IN DIFFERENT COLOURS AND FINISHES?
If you are looking to add a little elegance to your project you can choose a slot drain with a coloured anodised grate to match your floor finish or tap ware. The Aquabocci Blade Slot drain is available in 4 colours, Titanium, GT Silver, Black and Champagne so you are sure to find a colour that works for you.
HOW DO SLOT DRAINS WORK COMPARED TO OTHER DRAINS?
It is often assumed that narrow slot drains do not have the same flow rate or water capacity of a channel drain with a larger grate, however you can easily increase the flow rate of a slot drain by adding more outlets to the base of the PVC channel.
The Aquabocci Blade-T slot drain has a 120mm wide channel so you can easily attach 110mm / 4 inch outlets for a maximum flow rate.
WHERE CAN I USE A SLOT DRAIN?
One of the most common locations you will find a slot drain would be around outdoor paving areas, such as courtyards and swimming pool areas and public spaces and parks.
The slim profile of a slot drain is ideal for high traffic locations as it can be concealed below the top of the tiles or pavers and is not easily damaged.
HOW DO I INSTALL A SLOT DRAIN?
The good news is that Slot Drains can be installed on concrete, timber or insulation board in any indoor or outdoor location.
The shallow profile of the Aquabocci Blade-T slot drain allows the product to be installed on top of the floor finish, this reduces the need for you to build a setdown in the floor that is required when using Slot Drains with a deep channel.
The Aquabocci Blade slot drain series are very low profile allowing for installations that do not allow for a thick floor build up.
